January 2025 Accountability
I commissioned a cover artist for “Shadows Over Seattle: Prequels 1-6”, and couldn’t be happier!
In the past I’ve had short stories featured in several anthologies, and the cover art has been provided by the publishers. When I self-published some of those stories, I used cover art that was gifted to me by a grateful fellow author, in return for work proofreading some of her books.
But now that I’m collecting these stories together for the first time, I thought it was time to commission a professional cover artist.
A couple of months ago, I started working with Elara Grace who’s character art impressed me. And I’m really glad that I did. Elara was a pleasure to work with, and kept me involved in the process from my initial ideas, through the linework, and to the final artwork.
What really sold me on her work is how she took my character notes for Richard Parsons, his background, and ideas and brought his rebellious nature to life. When I saw the expression on the initial line art, I was sold.
While Elara worked on adding color and depth to the art, I used my time to create a series title, and rough cover layout.
I was so happy with the result that I shared the results with my paid subscribers early. They got to see the cover around the middle of last month.
