How did you spend your extra day?
Another month has passed, and I’m probably not the only one confused. Even with an extra day in the month, I still ask, “How is it March already?”
I had plans to spend the day writing, but instead find myself doing adult stuff, like paying rent, booking doctor appointments, and making sure I’m taking care of end-of-month things.
How did you spend the extra day? Let’s compare notes in the comments:
February survey result
Last month, I mentioned that I was starting to write my novel from the beginning and asked if you’d like to see samples.
More importantly, I wanted to know if you wanted to see my draft material, or wait for me to do some polishing to it. I’m grateful to everyone who took the time to give their responses, and I heard you loud and clear.
The result was unanimously in favor of seeing the polished work. So, I will finish the first few scenes, then go back and polish those that show the most promise before sharing anything here.
Writing plans for March
If you remember last month, which I barely do, you’ll remember that I’ve had a rough time getting back into writing regularly. Well, the good news is, there’s hope on the horizon.
While I might not have actually done any writing during February, thanks to a variety of real-life distractions, I am making progress.
I’ve started to carve out writing time each week, and I hope to do more than plan scenes and create background characters and locations. My bullet journal planner has been updated to include sections I’ll use to keep myself accountable, make relevant writing notes, and set manageable goals.
I’m also gamifying my productivity. Each time I meet one of those goals, or actually get some writing done on “Of Wolves & Men”, (instead of background work), I’ll reward myself.
Direct messaging is available for all subscribers!
You may have seen the recent notifications from Substack about the new Direct Messaging system. I know I did, and I’m excited to make a more personal connection with each of you.
With that in mind, I’m keeping direct messaging open to all!
You read that right… You’re going to be able to message me directly, and I’ll be checking those messages at least daily. So, feel free to ask questions, suggest books to share with other readers, or even give me feedback on these newsletters.
