Halloween marks an important anniversary in my career!
Find out why I always mark Halloween, and how you can take advantage of a special offer.
Why You’re Receiving This Post
Either you’re reading this on Substack, or you’ve received this post as an email notification. If you’ve subscribed to me on Substack or found this post through my Substack page, you probably expected to see a post from me at the start of November, and this is it! Feel free to skip the rest of this section and find out how you can join me in celebrating Halloween.
However, if you were not expecting to see it, you’re probably surprised to hear from me, and that’s understandable. I’ve not published an email newsletter in a while because of changing rules, costs, and other factors associated with many of the services I used to use. So, when I transferred to Substack, I also transferred my old email subscriber lists, and that’s how we ended up here.
Should you wish to unsubscribe, I understand. I’m on many email lists and only have limited time on any given day to read them. Sometimes, they even stop being relevant, so I unsubscribe. Should you wish to unsubscribe from this list, here’s how you can do so.
Why Is Halloween Special?
Halloween marks a couple of key moments in my writing career.
It coincides with my very first short story, “Under A Hunter’s Moon,” being featured in the “Moon Shadows” Halloween anthology (October 2014).
I was also able to participate in my first book signing at my local bookstore, Fireside Books, and loved every minute of it.
Last but not least, it marks the first published story in the ever-expanding world of “Shadows Over Seattle.”
And Now That Special Offer I Mentioned
Things have moved so fast since then that I can’t believe it all happened nine years ago.
Since then, I’ve been featured in four anthologies and am working on my first novel.
To celebrate joining Substack, I’m giving away copies of “Under A Hunter’s Moon,” the first story in the “Shadows Over Seattle: Prequels” series, until the end of November 2023.
Past and present collide on Halloween
Richard Parsons is a maverick wolf-shifter who grew up among the teen gangs of Seattle. His tendency to find trouble has often attracted police attention.
When a traveling exhibition returns to the McCaw Museum Richard finds that he has personal reasons to visit after hours. His audacious plan goes awry when a particular display forces painful memories to the surface.
Can Richard face down the demons of his past before the police become aware of his presence?
